Professional, confidential counselling for individuals in a comfortable, private space.

A safe, confidential space to talk about anything that is causing you concern, worry, anxiety, stress, or just keeps you awake at night.  Together we can explore your troubles and discover the right choices to lead you to a happier life.

About me

I originally trained as a Veterinary Nurse and spent many years in clinical practice caring for animals. I then taught Veterinary Nursing for 23 years at a local college, working with students of all ages and helping them gain their professional qualification. This time working with students and visiting veterinary professionals in their workplaces, made me realise that all sorts of stress and worries interfere with a person’s happiness. Low self-esteem, depression, unhappiness, distress and under achievement can all result from holding in thoughts and feelings and ‘trying to be strong’ often has devastating effects.

My own work stress and personal life experiences led me to seek professional help and the dramatic difference in how I felt, resulted in my decision to train and become a qualified counsellor.

Boost your self-esteem

I believe that all people can benefit from talking to a therapist. As individuals we are very willing to go to the doctor if we feel unwell or are experiencing pain. If you are struggling at home with family or relationships, at work or college with stress, general anxiety, low self-esteem or ‘just not feeling yourself’ or losing sleep, I’m hopeful that talking to me can help you work out what might be causing your upset and we can work together to help you feel better.

What is counselling and how it might help?

Having experienced the benefits of personal counselling myself, I know that the most difficult part is deciding which counsellor to work with, making the appointment and then actually turning up.  Some people have had bad experiences seeing a counsellor in the past, but all counsellors are unique and work in different ways; I believe there is someone to help everyone. Nobody should be forced to see a counsellor and so you need to be ready to talk and motivated to change the way you feel.
As a Person Centred counsellor I will not judge anything you say or give my opinion.  I will not give you homework, but will offer you a safe, confidential space to talk about anything that is causing you concern, worry, anxiety, stress or just keeps you awake at night. I believe that together we can explore your troubles and discover the right choices to lead you to a happier life. Everyone deserves to enjoy life!

Preparing for the loss of your pet and bereavement counselling

Pet bereavement support

Memories may fade, but they will never leave us completely. Treasure all the memories you shared.
Our pets offer us companionship, unconditional love and an ever-listening ear. They often spend many years with the family and they never judge, give advice or tell us what to do. Therefore, when it is time to say goodbye, we understandably often miss them hugely and experience emotional distress, often more than when a person passes away.

Client testimonials

  • I was recommended to Celia through a close friend at a time when I couldn’t see a way forward with life and wasn’t sure that I wanted to go on.   Celia was patient, kind and considerate and gave me strategies to cope.  Celia remembers everything, without note taking, so she is totally focussed on you and creating the right outcomes for you. Thank you Celia, for rescuing me.

  • After saying goodbye to my dog Muffin it felt like my world collapsed around me, the grief was overwhelming and I couldn’t see a way of getting through the pain I was feeling.  Celia’s support and guidance helped me navigate my emotions and find a way of coping and understanding what had happened.  I left our sessions a little stronger each time and her experience as both a counsellor and Veterinary Nurse gave a really valuable perspective on what I was experiencing.  Her compassion, knowledge and practical advice made such a difference and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her.
